Goodbye 2013

This is my last post for the year!  2013 is coming to a close.  Looking back, this has been a year full of challenges.  I've faced loss, I've faced gains. I've won some and I've lost some.  This is probably the most upheaval year I had in my life so far.  

This year, I don't have any resolutions thought out.  I know the parts of my life that I need to improve on.  Each year, I look forward to a better year from the last and this year is nonetheless.

I wish and pray that 2014 is a happy and peaceful year for everyone.

Bringing Fashion To Space

Can you imagine one day we could be travelling to space just like the way we travel in an aeroplane?  I had probably watched a bit too many science fiction films lately.  The last one I had just watched was Elysium, then Legal Insanity released this new jacket and then I came across a space elevator on a sim listed in Second Life Destination Guide.  Piece everything together and here I am in my space fashion themed style!

Boy!

A Gorgeous Dress By Kanou

This is Xela dress, Kanou's recent release.  It's a sexy mesh design featuring drape front with a metallic chain rings and low open back.  The texture of this dress is immaculate!  I have picked the green among the 6 colour choices to pose for this photo shoot.  Overall, I would say this dress is gorgeous!  The best from Kanou so far!!!  

At the time of writing, Kanou is having Black Friday event where everything in the store, including this dress, is only 50L.  The event should have ended over the weekend.  So, hurry over and check them out before the owner put the prices back to their regular.

Moving On

He has gone.... to another world.... to heaven, may be.   His family has tagged him and posted a few updates on his Facebook Timeline.  Very much like an active account of any other Facebook friends.  Traces of him still exist on his Facebook as friends connected to him can view just about everything he has let us view, his photos when he was alive, his likes, his thoughts, his status...  

This got me thinking.  What we shared on Facebook would become a compilation of our life journey, a journal, when we are no longer on earth one day.  Our friends might look us up and remember those words, those photos, those times we were there.  That connection can be a precious one for those whose path/s we have crossed.  The positive words and thoughts that were shared will leave a lasting memory in the cyberspace.

But, will Facebook ever deletes an account who has not been logged in for a long time?  How long will it be kept?

Let go and be free

Letting go is not a weakness and it does not mean surrendering.  To me, letting go is taking control back of what has made us felt worthless and powerless.

It's human nature to fear the uncertainty and clinging on to what is familiar.  Until we recognize what is crippling us and be brave enough to make a change that set us free, we will not have peace.

Delete Account

One of my very first SL friends told me that she was leaving SL when her premium membership expired.  It was not a joke or fake.  She was a very good friend whom I had grown together with and shared some wonderful times since newbies.

She was not just leaving SL, but, she was also deleting her account.  This leaves no room for turning back once it is deleted, it will be gone forever.  Everything would just vanished ... all the wonderful collections in her inventory, shopping time and money spent in her 5 years would be gone.  To her, this is an experience, an experiment, a hypothesis, on how it feels to give up one's treasures, one's name, one's reputation, one's everything and.... one's life.  Before her 'death', as in real life, she gave away mementos to her dearest friends and transferred assets to the people who would benefit from her years-long work.

The last thing she told me was, you won't be asked to reconfirm your deletion after hitting the "Delete Account" button.  So there is no way you could make a last minute change of mind, except, writing to Linden Lab may probably re-activate it.  But, she didn't change her mind and I shall miss her forever in Second Life.
