A New Chapter

Happy New Year, everyone!  I have made a few changes to start 2013.  A new layout design on my blog, and a new skin, which I will be using regularly.  Looking all fresh now with renewed hopes that there will be better things to come!

I am keeping the colour purple on my blog again, but in various shades this time.  Why?  Because I like lavenders, I like amethyst crystals, I like eggplants and the only dinosaur I like is Barney!   

Now, have a look at this photo....  That's me in my new skin!  I adore this skin so much, it fits beautifully on my shape without any modifications and it's my favourite so far.  Thank you, Natsuki Bailey!  <3

Legal Insanity has released this Winter Chic Turtleneck mesh dress collection which comes ten colour choices.  I am wearing the tan colour in the photos below.  I snapped these pictures at a sim named Amsterdam on Nirans Viewer.  I switched from Firestorm to Nirans and I could see the big difference while wandering at the sim.  

I took my time walking around the sim trying to find any buildings which I have seen in real life many years ago.  It didn't take me too long to see that familiar building, Central Station.  Why... this is one of the real life buildings in the city which I could not miss.  I took the train out of the city my times while holidaying in Amsterdam.   I remember when I left Amsterdam after my holidays, I have said in my heart that I would visit it again one day.  Now I wish that, that one day will be this Spring when the tulips are blooming and have a taste or two of the yellow gold cheese at Alkmaar market.

I learned to say ... Thank You!

In my last post, I wrote about praises and compliments, sincere praises and the insincere Second Life new wave of beggars script.  It got me pondering further about how Asians respond to compliments, regardless of the compliments' sincerity.  I can't speak for all but I believe that majority of us Asians in this part of the world do respond in quite the same way.  

A lot of times we tend to deny it, sometimes we shy away from it or feel awkward by it, or sometimes we just smile and blush.  It may seems rude to respond that way but it is considered a modest behaviour in our culture.  Parents don't really teach a young child how to answer to compliments.  But as we become more expose to foreign cultures, in both reality and virtual world, we pick up some proper social etiquette.  Thanks to Second Life for the wonderful cross cultural experience!

Again this year, I am honoured to be selected as one of the official bloggers for Peace On Earth 5 Hunt due to start from December 1, 2012 and ends on January 6, 2013.  Yes, it is running for the 5th year and it is one of the largest hunt on the grid with the participation of 201 designers.  Everyone has 37 days to finish hunting all the hunt gifts.  You can't possibly finish it in one day!  I am not sure if there would be anyone who will do that.  But if you aim to get all the hunt gifts, spread out your hunt to 5 items a day for 37 days and this will make your life much easier!  Come back to visit my blog or subscribe it, as I will be covering some of the hunt items from these designers.

     

Here is a sneak peek of a hunt item on me.  It's the pair of lovely flats named Bally from Lindy Modern & Retro Shoes store.  I am wearing a sweet dollarbie mesh dress from Bowtique on Marketplace and I added a  pretty silky scarf made by my friend.  The result is a feminine-charm look.

Always Keep Your Feet On The Ground

Praise works wonders when it is done well as it raises someone's self-esteem and confidence, makes someone feels their efforts and hard work is acknowledged.  Whether it is to a kid or an adult, praise is one of the powerful forms of human interactions.      

But, some people does it with ulterior motives.  These people are smooth talkers, they would praise you sky high, make you feel like you are on cloud nine then the next thing you know is their true colours being revealed.

One day I was out shopping a girl IMed me, eloquently praising the way I looked, a little too excessively, I felt.  I am not quite too comfortable of being praised in such manner.  From my rather conservative upbringing, praises do not come around often, unless an outstanding achievement renders it.  Towards the end of the conversation, her ulterior motive was revealed - she asked for some Lindens!  I shared the experience with a friend and she too, had the same experience.

Can you tell a sincere praise from an insincere one?

Last week, Legal Insanity has new releases.  A full mesh Marlon Jacket for him and Marlene Jacket for her.  Both are sold in three colours - black, choco and dark blue.  The chic, stylish jacket comes with a HUD that controls the shirt.  You may choose to wear with or without the shirt, and there are also four colours of the shirt to choose from.  In these pictures, I am wearing the Marlene dark blue jacket with a white shirt matched with a pair of white sculpted-cuffed shorts in a casual laid-back but chic style.   

I have Polkadot Blue prim nails on me which are Bamboo's latest release.  These beautiful nails are scripted.  You can choose the different lengths out of three available, and paint your nails in any of the five different textures either on selected nails or all nails to create a unique style.
