White Romance

This stunning elegant dress by Russh Lussh is a new release which features a combination of mesh and flexi prims.  The designer, Ms. Nakia Decosta, has creatively used flexi prims for the feathers and ruffle organza embellishment attached to the mesh bodice.  These flexi prims give the wearer a realistic graceful feel as she walks, dance, or simply... moves.

A little carried away

Less than three days to catch Hope For Emilia in raising funds to help the earthquake victims in Italy restoring their lives.

Fellini Couture is among the 71 designers who have participated in this cause.  This stand out monochrome gown is so refine in its crafts and class that it conjures up sheer elegance to the wearer.  Designed by Ms Joy Fellini, a talented designer whom I have come to know a little better as I had the privilege to wear this exclusive outfit from the charity event and in absolute awe, I further went over to her main store to explore her other designs.      

I was fascinated when I arrived at Fellini Couture's main store.  Mind you, at that instance, any attempts to debate about Marketplace over inworld stores would have gone futile if one sees this store!  Its decor and setting overflows with the grandeur of fashion and art that are so breathtaking.

What is Hope For Emilia?

HOPE FOR EMILIA is an exciting event in Second Life that will last from July 22 to August 9, 2012 and will include a Summer Fashion Fair, fashion shows, an art expo and entertainment events to fundraise for the victims of earthquake in Emilia, Italy.

As most of the world is aware, the northern region of Italy has been hit by devastating earthquakes during the last several months.

The first earthquake, registering a magnitude of 6.1, struck in the Emilia-Romagna region, on May 20th of 2012.

Two aftershocks with a magnitude of 5.2 occurred a few hours after the main event, and seven people were killed.

Nine days later, on May 29th, an additional earthquake with a magnitude of 5.9 struck the same area causing an additional eighteen deaths and widespread damage, particularly to buildings already weakened by the May 20th earthquake.

And again on June 3rd, 4th and 6th,  aftershocks struck the region, causing panic among terrified people, who still don’t know if this incubus is going to continue.

The damages of these earthquakes are terrible: 26 people died, and thousands are homeless, living in tents.  The whole economy of the country was brought to its knees.

“Hope for Emilia” aims to fundraise to help the many victims of the earthquakes: 100% of the funds raised with this event will be donated to victims of the earthquake through the bank account opened by Emilia-Romagna region (http://www.regione.emilia-romagna.it/terremoto/la-raccolta-fondi-della-regione-come-donare).

我亲爱的 (wo qin ai de)

踏进2012下半年的第一天，不知怎么忽然决定以中文来写写部落格。连banner也把它换掉了。 焕然一新，有重新出发的感觉。已经好多年没接触中文了，好伤脑筋，就让我试试看吧。请多指教哦！

“我亲爱的” (wo qin ai de)。。。这是中文翻译的 My Dear。其实“我亲爱的”是我在SL迷恋的一家卖皮肤店的品牌。它大概全部的皮肤都很配合我的身形，只是缺了没卖东方人的皮肤，但也柔美可人，蛮有魅力的。


最近 MyDear 新推出了Salma Skin （看以下的第一张图片）。 我是用了比较浓妆的Salma 来显示一股吸血鬼的感觉。在第二张图片里，我是用了 MyDear 的 Grette Skin,然后加了多层的化妆。两个皮肤同一个身形且带给人不同的印象。

这合身剪裁的礼服突出完美的身体曲线加上特殊高雅的衣领，充满高贵性感的气质，成为了全场瞩目的焦点。 由于这礼服的衣领，已经有两个人问我是否是吸血鬼女王了！

此外，我插入了YouTube 一首何芸妮 (Winnie Ho) 唱的很赞的爵士乐 (Jazz) 歌曲 - 南海姑娘。 Enjoy。。。

It's not easy but it's worth it

Today, I'm going to rant about my experience on last Saturday's live audition.  This is a warning in case you don't like my rantings so you could skip these paragraphs and just go straight to the styling credits of my entry for Miss Bliss Couture 2012 Contest formal wear.

I have prepared well before Bliss Couture Pre-finalists live audition.  Days before the audition, I carefully selected my poses, my walks and made sure my outfits were adjusted precisely.  I practised over and over again; checked everything several times, and was satisfied.  The live audition was a big thing for me as it was my very first.

On that day, I was very cool.  I knew what I had to do when I walk out on the runway.  Attended GLANCE Modeling Academy helps a great deal in events like this.  I did exactly what I learned.  

Bliss gave us the options to walk on one of the two days and I thought this was very well organised as it fit my time zone very well.  The pre-finalists were told to be there 30 mins earlier, but I got there an hour earlier instead ... to get warmed up, tee-hee!!!

Crowd gradually built up.  By the the time the audition was about to start, there were around 50 avatars in the sim.  Half of that number was the contestants, all beautiful and fabulously styled.  I saw a few familiar names among them.  I began to feel a bit laggy, can't escape from it.  I kept my fingers crossed, hoping that I won't crashed while on the runway.

I was almost at the end of the queue and our first walk was in casual wear.  This was my favourite part and I had wished it to be my best performance.  Unfortunately, I made a small mistake and could only hope that it had gone unnoticed.  After finishing my walk, just when I reached the backstage, lag overcomed me and I crashed.  Phew!  That was close, I thought.  The next walk was in formal wear.  I got cold feet when I finished my last pose on the runway.  I had a big problem suddenly, my screen was flickering and freezing so badly.  That's my biggest fear!!!  I could read the coordinator asking me to respond.  My mind was calling out 'mayday mayday mayday' as I was on the verge of crashing on the runway and wasn't able to do anything.

By this time, my heart was pounding so fast.  I was holding up the whole audition!  Then a quick thought came and I had my hands off from the keyboard and let my pc stabilized.  After 2 minutes, my pc got back to normal, and I managed to walk back to backstage.  Again, at this time I crashed.

So.... Is there really such thing as perfect preparation that produces perfect performance?  Have you ever come away from an audition feeling you could have performed better?

I concluded that, there is only so much that I can be prepared.  Other variables which are beyond my control do exist.  Anything could go wrong during a show.  The lag that could kill my (not so high-end) pc, my performance or others performance that could affect everyone.  And it's only through experience that we know what to expect and how to manage it.

You Got USD1 to spare?

I have always think of Second Life is such a wonderful platform for many things, good things, that is. A platform for discoveries, including self-discovery.  It helps to connect people from around the world, building bridges, creating awareness, exploring our differences and similarities, finding and expressing ourselves, our talents.  

There have been many charitable events which brought many creators together to help raising donations.  Each event deserves everyone's attention.  I cannot think of any better way for us to enjoy shopping and playing in Second Life, knowing that our spending can also go to help the needs of another.  1USD won't make you become very poor (for many of us) but could feed someone.  It is true that 1USD could buy a day's meal in some countries.  A small contribution really makes a big difference!

The Ashraya project is now running in Second Life until June 4th, 2012.  Ahsraya means 'shelter' in Indian.  I found out, in real life, Ashraya is a Bangalore based organization set up to provide aids to Indian children in need and abused women.  An annual sponsorship of Indian Rupee 15,000 for one child covers the cost of education, books, food and clothing for the year.  This is around USD276, if my math is correct.

The Ashraya project in Second Life is founded by Anna Sapphire.  The month-long event was realised together with her capable and talented team members, 80 amazing designers, entertainers and sponsors.  More details on the website - http://ashrayaproject.wordpress.com/

I Am Divided!

I am divided over this set of outfits from Glow Designs.  The original set is a formal wear (Style #1) as shown in the bottom two pictures but I took it a bit further and came up with my own style (Style #2).  

I have always enjoy tweaking clothes into my own style and trying to put together a different look other than the designers'.  I found that I feel much more at ease and not pressured to produce a style on my blog that designers want.  May be this makes me unpopular too. :P  But, I am enjoying the ride and not chasing the shadows.  This is what matters most, isn't it?  

I do appreciate very much on the review items I have been receiving.  In a way, I feel encouraged that there are people out there who likes my styling.  Everyone needs to feel encouraged from time to time.  It's a good vibe that I like to pass it on.  So, I will try to do my best with a bit more time.

A fusion of tradition and modern styles

This traditional dress is called cheong sum or qipao by the Chinese, depending on which Chinese dialetcs.  It is also known as mandarin gown in English.  As I understood, cheong sum was created in 1920s in Shanghai and was popularly worn by socialites and upperclass women then, but it has since modernized.  Today, it has become a one piece, body-fitting, high collared and high cut dress.  They are worn only by some ladies to important occasions such as Chinese New Year and Chinese weddings, or as a formal wear.

I have found a very fine cheong sum designer, Lika Ruby, in Second Life and could not resist buying one.  As shown here, I am wearing a knee-length cheong sum in formal styling.  This dress also comes in a mini skirt version.  I love the mandarin collar most as it was created flawlessly!  In Lika Ruby's main store, there is a beautiful free cheong sum group gift!  (See the 3rd picture below).  

I have made a shape which I am wearing with my JOMO girl skin (see 1st and 2nd picture below).  I am more than happy to give it away if the proof of purchase on JOMO girl skin is shown to me.
